Man Accused of Killing His Roommate's Chihuahua in Hawthorne Arrested

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Hawthorne after he was accused of killing his roommate’s Chihuahua-mix last month in an assault caught on camera, police said.

The Moreno Valley Police Department arrested 24-year-old Li Haoming after officers responded to the residence in the 13000 block of Acacia Avenue Jan. 13. 

After officers found the dead dog, named Rescue, they determined the pooch had been killed after suffering blunt force trauma to the head. Officers discovered home surveillance video captured the attack on camera. 

Haoming, who was originally from Moreno Valley, was arrested and is being held on $10,000 bail at the Robert Presley Detention Center.

“The Moreno Valley Police Department takes crimes like these very seriously and has zero tolerance for animal cruelty. We encourage anyone with information about crimes against animals to report them to your local law enforcement agency or call 911 immediately,” the police department said.
